“You can tell it’s handmade when you pick it up. The weave is tight and the rope feels solid. It’s one of those small upgrades that makes the entrance feel finished.”

“It’s heavier than I expected which is great. It stays put and the rope texture works really nicely with timber and concrete.”

“We’ve gone through a few mats over the years and they always end up looking worn after one winter. This one actually looks better once it’s settled in. It feels properly made.”

Natural Rope. Traditional Knotwork

- Stops the shedding, slipping, and soggy-mat disappointment cycle

- Feels coastal, natural, and considered instead of rubbery and forgettable

- Looks better with age, not worse after a few wet weeks

- Adds weight and presence so it stays put and sits right

- Made by two brothers who obsess over craftsmanship, not mass production

Made By Two Brothers

Matra began with a simple frustration.
Most doormats looked cheap, slid around, and quietly dragged the whole entrance down.

One of us had been tying knots since scouts and started experimenting with rope, eventually weaving a mat for our own place because nothing we could buy felt right.

That one mat turned into neighbours asking for one, then friends, and eventually a proper product.

Matra is for people who notice the details.

Each Matra doormat is handwoven to order.
We only make 20 mats per month.

Once this month’s allocation is filled, new orders are scheduled into the next production run.

This keeps the quality high and the process slow, intentional, and human
